Funding for Initiatives Promoting Local Well-Being in Quebec (Canada)
GrantID: 74969
Grant Funding Amount Low: $20,000
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: $20,000
Summary
A funding opportunity is available for eligible organizations operating in and around Coös County, New Hampshire, and some adjoining communities in Maine, Vermont, and Québec. The grant supports nonprofits, tax-exempt public agencies, municipalities, and schools. In certain cases other community groups without strict nonprofit status may qualify if a fiscal sponsor (such as a 501(c)(3) organization or public agency) applies on their behalf.
Grants can be requested for a variety of uses including project-specific initiatives, operating or unrestricted expenses, planning, evaluation, technical assistance, capacity building, and capital improvements. Applicants may propose requests that span one, two, or three years depending on the scale of the work.
There are two main tiers of funding amounts. The smaller tier allows requests up to $20,000 for programs or projects over one to three years. The larger tier supports more ambitious proposals with funding between $20,000 and $300,000; in multi-year cases the larger grants may provide up to $100,000 per year over a three-year period.
Priorities include strengthening community gathering places, revitalizing downtowns, enhancing cultural or social infrastructure, improving access to fresh and local food, environmental stewardship (including sustainable use of forests, waterways, and farms), youth development, and meeting essential needs of underserved or low-income residents. Proposals that show strong connections to the region, collaborative partnerships across towns or sectors, and the ability to leverage additional resources tend to be favored.
Applicants should ensure their programs clearly benefit the specified geographic region, align with the fund’s goals, and demonstrate organizational capacity to manage the funding. Non-discriminatory, non-sectarian programs are required, and activities must reflect principles of equity and respect. Final decisions are made through a regular review process, and funding notifications typically follow within several months of submission
